The Language of the Heart HISTORY AS IT HAPPENED
In 1935, two drunks met and talked in a home in Akron, Ohio, and more than fifty years later, nearly two million once-hopeless alcoholics have a pro- gram of recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous. How did that seed, once planted, grow and develop? Much of the story was recorded in the more than 150 articles co-founder Bill W. wrote for the AA Grapevine. In the Grapevine book The Language of the Heart: Bill W.'s Grapevine Writings, virtually all those articles have been published together in one volume for the first time. The struggles of our founding members, as they worked out the spiritual principles that would ensure the Fellowship's survival, are recounted here. And the answers they wrested from tough experiences of trial and error will shed light on the crucial issues and questions of the 1990s and beyond. 432 pages, including a Foreword by Lois W., a general introduction, and a topical index. Three pal1S: 1944-1950 - hammering out the Traditions; 1950-1958 - the service structure; relations with non-AA friends; 1958-1970 - practicing spiritual principles "in all our affairs"; AA spreads around the world. Also memorial articles and reflections on the Grapevine itself. Price: $10.00 (5 copies or more, $9.00 each)
